Heading Outline Checker

Extract H1–H6 headings from pasted HTML and review empty headings, repeated H1s and jumps in the outline.

Paste HTML, not a page URL. The sample is parsed in an inert template: pasted scripts are not executed, resources are not loaded and the HTML is not inserted into the visible page. Maximum 1 MB and 1,000 headings.

See the document’s outline in order

This checker lists HTML headings from H1 through H6 in the order they occur in your sample. It normalizes whitespace in the heading text and excludes script and style text nested inside a heading. It reports empty headings, an outline that begins below H1 and downward jumps such as H2 followed by H4.

A repeated H1 is a prompt to review the structure, rather than proof of a ranking problem. A page template may supply the title outside an article fragment, so check the complete document before treating a missing H1 in a fragment as a website issue.

Use a representative sample

  1. Copy the HTML for the page or the article section you want to review.
  2. Run the checker and compare the extracted text with the visible page.
  3. Decide whether each heading introduces the content beneath it and whether its level fits the surrounding sections.
  4. Export the outline if you need a record of the review, then edit the original source.

What this does not inspect

The checker does not fetch a website, evaluate CSS visibility or run the sample’s JavaScript. It does not reproduce a screen reader’s accessibility tree, understand the topic of each section or grade the quality of the writing. Headings created later by a live page’s JavaScript will appear only if you supply HTML that already contains them.

The pasted markup stays inside an inert template. Only the extracted heading text and review notes are placed in the result table, keeping the check separate from executing the supplied document.
